Daniel Leyva

December 11th, 2009

Picture 1Daniel Leyva is a dude living in Brooklyn NY. He made this little site of his and apart from being downright crazy, it also uses javacript cleverly. So, no flash here. Look for the little door on the frontpage.

PIG 05049

December 10th, 2009

12_01Christien Meindertsma followed up on a pig (number 05049) after it’s death (by slaughter, needless to say). For three years she did research on the products made from one single pig and documented all 185 of them in her photo book. The pig had been shipped all around the world and among the products made was ammunition, medicine, photo paper, heart valves, brakes, chewing gum, porcelain, cosmetics, cigarettes, conditioner and bio diesel.

Decode

December 10th, 2009

Decode: Digital Design Sensations showcases the latest developments in digital and interactive design, from small, screen-based, graphics to large-scale interactive installations. The exhibition includes works by established international artists and designers such as Daniel Brown, Golan Levin, Daniel Rozin, Troika and Karsten Schmidt. The exhibition features both existing works and new commissions created especially for the exhibition.

The V&A has commissioned Karsten Schmidt to design a digital identity for the Decode exhibition using open source code. They are giving you the opportunity to recode Karsten’s work and create your own original artwork. If they love your work it could even become the new Decode identity.

Happy coding. 8 December 2009 – 11 January 2010. As it happens to be, I’m in London during this time. Must go see.

Desiree Dolron

December 9th, 2009

05-Desiree-Dolron-Xteriors-VIIII’m in a dark mood today. Must be the lack of sunlight. The sun was supposed to be up between 9.29 and 14.49, but who knows. Utsjoki has been dark for about 2 weeks now and the next chance to see the sun, is around the 15th of January. So I suppose we living in Helsinki are quite well off. Desiree Dolrons images fits right in.

Sci-Fi-O-Rama

December 9th, 2009

dan_mcpharlin_the_land_of_sleeping_thingsSci-Fi-O-Rama is once again one of my favorites. I thought they had disappeared, but apparently they just changed their url and hosting. But anyway this site, as some of the ones a I have mentioned before, is just jam-packed with good stuff. It’s pretty much about all things sci-fi and psychedelica. From old pinball machine graphics to record sleves by Hipgnosis.
